Safe Space - Singapore's first online to offline counselling app

Why Safe Space?

(Safe Space definition: an environment where one is assured against discrimination,
criticism, harassment, or any other emotional or physical harm.

Mental disorders are rising in cases by the day, but the term still weighs heavy with stigma. Our emotional well-being is just as important as physical health, but unfortunately, it’s often ignored until the condition gets progressively worse.

We know the path towards getting therapy is long and often arduous. Invasive questioning, long wait times for appointments and the possible worry of being seen in a psychiatric clinic are just a few concerns for those seeking treatment.

We believe that everyone deserves a safe space of their own. A space where you can freely share your thoughts, worries and fears to a professional counsellor and receive exactly the support and care you need.

And here is where we’re different: Safe Space provides the traditional experience of counselling with the benefit of convenience. You’ll have all the confidentiality and help that you require, no matter where or when. All you need is your mobile device and the Safe Space app, and you’re all set.

Personal Issues

Many individuals struggle with personal issues. Encompassing a wide range of root causes, such as body image dissatisfaction and repressed sexual identity, personal issues may lead to low self-esteem, depression and anxiety.

Personal issues are not something that can be overcome overnight - treatment is a constant, ongoing process. One of the most important things to keep in mind for personal issues is to practise self-care often - making time for hobbies, rewatching your favourite movie, or spending a restful weekend in bed.

Having problems with your partner? Can’t seem to get along with the family? Relationships problems are often tricky to navigate, as they involve more than one person.

Therapy methods differ by the case depending on the nature of the relationship, the people involved and possible underlying issues. While the most common cause is a lack of communication, it is important to highlight all the concerns faced in a relationship for the fullest picture of its problems.

Financial Issues

Financial woes affect people of all statuses and incomes. Addiction to gambling and splurging are two common financial issues. While financial issues may seem fairly straightforward to resolve, therapy for such cases includes both resolution of the current issue as well as prevention of future problems.

It’s difficult to not be a workaholic in a bustling city. Most people spend at least half their lives in their workspace, with the term ‘work-life balance’ often touted as a benefit rather than a given in a job. Feelings of stress, exhaustion and being burnt out are very common, but are rarely resolved before the next work cycle kicks in.

These issues are often exaggerated if one does not get along well with their colleagues, bosses or employees.

Therapy for career-related issues is also an ongoing process in overcoming specific problems, from learning better time management skills to doing meditation exercises.
